Our mission (some of the things we do...) Hope House Sundays On each month with five Sundays the church collects items for the Hope House in Findlay, a home for battered women and children. Baskets are placed in the church vestibule with the wish list and at the end the collection is delivered to the Hope House. Ice Cream Social Each year in June the church holds the Deacon’s Ice Cream Social. Members of the church serve meals and ice cream and accept free will offering in return. All the proceeds are then divided among these charities: Hardin County Children’s Services, Love, Inc., Christian Children’s Fund, Helen Mabry Shoe Fund, Hope House, Project Warmth, Hardin Hospice Care, Habitat for Humanity, and United Way. “Our Child” One of the mission projects of our church has been supporting a child through the Christian Children’s Fund. This Christmas season is a good time to introduce a new child that has been assigned to us. His name is Moh Haryadi Ilyash Hani Fatuloh and he is again from Indonesia. He is of Hindu religion although Indonesia is the most populous Muslim country in the world. We all remember Indonesia from the pictures of destruction when it was hit by the Tsunami . Ilyash has known only poverty and privation in his young life. He lives with his parents and grandmother in a simple house with no sanitation and no private bathroom in Jogyakarta. His father works as a casual laborer, but his income is meager and work irregular. His mother, although she tries to make the most of the little, she cannot do much with her husband's low income. The family’s annual income is around US $ 201.00. As the child is desperately in need of help with clothing, food and educational supplies we are happy to welcome him to our family group. Ilyash is his nick name. He is studying in the Primary School. His favorite hobby is flying kites. |
